Outdoor Activities

Walking – There are hundreds of kilometres of coastline and thousands of kilometres of marked paths across La Manche, giving you endless opportunities for exploring the region on foot.

Cycling – There are over 1200km of cycling trails on traffic-free or very quiet roads in La Manche with 41 signposted circuits of about 20km, great for day trips.

Canoeing and Kayaking – The river Vire is a short drive from the gites and here you can hire both canoes and kayaks. Sea kayaking is also available in St Martin de Bréhal (see below).

Sailing – There is a sailing school by the beach just 500m from Maison Mielles which offers lessons for adults and children over 6, with sand yachting and sea kayaking also available.

Climbing – A short drive from the gites and overlooking the river Vire, Le Roches de Ham is a rocky outcrop with a shale cliff more than 100m high, making it very popular with climbers.

Horse Riding – Normandy is renowned for its equestrian facilities and is an excellent place to explore on horseback, whether trekking across the bay of Mont Saint Michel or through the Vire valley.
